How are CCM products certified?

CCM products are certified once they:

  1. Have been tested by an accredited third party testing agency to ensure that they adhere to applicable industry standards for safety and performance.
  2. Have an approved quality program in place to assure consistency in manufacturing

Body 2

CCM works with CSA in Canada, HECC in the USA and CE in Europe to adhere to specified testing protocols.

Which CCM products are certified?

In the US, the Hockey Equipment Certification Council website contains a section where all HECC certified products are listed. If a product does not appear on this list then it is not certified and cannot be used in any sanctioned event or league requiring HECC certified equipment. To consult the list, click here.

How can I tell if a product is certified?

You can tell a product is certified if it listed on the HECC and/or CSA certified product listings and by means of a certification mark for the respective market (HECC, CSA or CE) that must be found on the exterior of the helmet. The certification mark will be a sticker located at the back of the helmet.

What does the expiry date mean?

The HECC certification sticker affixed to your helmet provides the date that the HECC certification will end. HECC certification for a player helmet and a goalie mask is valid for 6-1/2 years from the date of manufacture of the helmet. The helmet should be replaced with another HECC certified helmet after the expiration date on the HECC sticker has passed. This expiry date applies only to players registered in the US.

CCM recommends that damaged helmets be replaced immediately.

Are all facemasks compatible with all helmets?

Not all face protectors are compatible with all helmets. For a list of compatible helmets, one must consult the user instruction manual included with the product.

CCM recommends matching CCM facemasks and visors with CCM helmets.

Can I wear a visor in my league?

CCM recommends that a player check the rules for his or her individual league.
