All-Star Cast of CCM Players Head to Montreal
Montreal, Quebec, Canada (January 22, 2009) – A host of CCM Hockey players will be in Montreal for the 2009 NHL All-Star festivities to take part in the 57th annual NHL All-Star game on January 25, 2009. The NHL All-Star Weekend is a key component of the Montreal Canadiens Centennial celebration. With CCM’s global headquarters located in Montreal, it is only fitting that its key superstars, namely Alex Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals, Vincent Lecavalier of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Joe Thornton of the San Jose Sharks, will be in attendance.

The Western roster includes CCM player and Team Captain Joe Thornton, who at 6-foot-4, 235 pounds is enjoying another brilliant season with the Sharks. Joe, who is currently tied for second place amongst all NHL players in Assists (43), will be hitting the ice in the CCM U+ Pro skates, scoring with the CCM U+ stick and wearing the new traditional looking 4R Pro gloves.

Facing off against the impressive Western Roster, are Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals and Vincent Lecavalier of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Lecavalier, who’s heading home for All-Star week-end, will be accelerating through his opponents in CCM U+ Pro skates, firing off lethal shots with the Octo Gun 50 stick and sporting the Vector 08 helmet. Ovechkin has worked his way up to the top of the NHL scoring race (31 Goals) and currently sits in third place overall with (59) points. Ovechkin, whose team sits atop the Southeast Division, will also gear up in the CCM U+ Elite Line of hockey equipment and stickhandle through his adversaries with the new Vector 10 gloves.

The 57th annual NHL All-Star Game pits the League’s best players against one another in an East-versus-West format. The All-Star Game takes place on January 25th at 6PM and will be televised live on VERSUS in the United States and CBC Sports and RDS in Canada. In addition to the All-Star Game there is an NHL SuperSkills competition on January 24th at 7PM which allows the NHL All-Stars to show off their skating, puck-handling and shooting skills.
