Alex Ovechkin Scores Hat Trick at The 2009 NHL Awards Show ... Montreal, Quebec (Canada), June 18, 2009 – CCM Hockey would like to congratulate Alexander Ovechkin of the Washington Capitals for a tremendous season which culminated in the reception of three individual awards at the 2009 NHL Awards Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. CCM‘s Alex Ovechkin took center spotlight of both the 2008-09 season and the 2009 NHL Awards Show. For the 2nd consecutive season Ovechkin brought home the same three awards, winning the Lester B. Pearson Award as the League MVP as voted on by the players, the Rocket Richard Trophy as the top goal scorer (56 goals) and finally the Hart Trophy as MVP voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association. In addition, Ovechkin was also named to the NHL First All-Star Team. Ovechkin earned First Team honors in each of his first four NHL seasons, the first player to do so since Bill Durnan of the Montreal Canadiens in the 1946-47 season.
