Ovechkin Debuts Customized CCM U+ CL Stick With Two Goal Performance![]() Vancouver-British Columbia: February 17, 2010 After much anticipation, the Men’s Olympic Hockey Tournament opened in Vancouver last night. Alexander Ovechkin debuted a customized version of his CCM U+CL against Latvia in Team Russia’s opening game last night. This special edition model was inspired by Ovechkin and created by CCM for the Olympic Games. The CCM U+ CL is a black based stick featuring the red, white and blue striping of the Russian flag with key design elements of the Russian coat of arms and Ovechkin logo at the center. To promote the debut, CCM has distributed Russian Coat of Arms stickers to retail partners. In addition, a Facebook based contest was launched with this rare “Pro Stock” stick as the main prize. A retail version of this stick will be available from CCM in April, 2010. Ovechkin is known to customize the majority of his equipment including sticks, gloves, skates and holders with personalized designs and logos. He will also be wearing red shoulder pads from his very own OVECHKIN Collection developed by the team at CCM with Ovechkin’s input. Ovechkin is joined in Vancouver by fellow CCM team members Joe Thornton (Canada) and Saku Koivu (Finland). ![]() |
