How to choose the size of your goalie mask

The helmet should fit snugly against the head, without being too tight. The mask should move when the goalie moves their head. All goalie masks must have a cage in front of the face. Players under 18 are required to wear a CCE cage, meaning they must use a full-face visor or cage with their hockey helmet.

What accessories are recommended for a goalie mask?

When it comes to goalie mask accessories, there are a few key items every goalie should consider to ensure maximum protection, comfort, and performance:
Replacement straps: Over time, the wear and tear on the straps on your mask can cause them to break. Having a set of replacement straps ensures your mask stays securely in place.
Sweatband: These help keep sweat out of your eyes and improve comfort. Some sweatbands are designed to be highly absorbent and can even become sticky when wet to help keep the mask in position.
Chin strap or cup: A good chin strap or cup can improve the fit of your mask and provide extra protection and comfort.
Throat protector/dangler: This is a plastic piece that hangs from the bottom of the mask to protect the area around the throat. It’s an important accessory for added safety.
Visor: The visor attaches to a hockey helmet to protect the face, especially the eyes and nose, from pucks, sticks and from other injuries during the game.
Cage: A hockey cage is protective equipment mounted on the helmet to shield the face, including the eyes, nose, and mouth, from injuries caused by pucks, sticks, and other hazards during play. It’s usually made of metal or durable plastic, and has a mesh structure to provide visibility while protecting the face. All players under 18 must wear a full cage or visor on their helmet. After turning 18, players can opt for just a visor, but many choose to keep using a cage for extra protection.
Neck guard: All players are required to wear a neck guard while playing hockey. These protect against hard pucks and ice-skate blades.
