How to Choose the Right Skate Size?
Finding the correct skate size is crucial for both performance and comfort on the ice. Since skates differ from regular shoes, it can be challenging to know which size to choose. Here, we guide you through the process.
Find Your Perfect Skate Size
We always recommend using our digital scanner, available on all skate product pages, and our size guide to get the most accurate recommendation. This tool takes your unique foot measurements into account.
Generally speaking, when choosing a skate size, you usually need to go up one to two sizes compared to your regular shoe size.
For example, if you wear a size 40 in regular shoes, you should look at shoe size 41 or 42 in our size guide. The skate size then recommended there should be right for you.
If you choose a skate size that corresponds to only one size up from your regular shoe size, you will probably not have any room for growth.
If, on the other hand, you choose a skate size that corresponds to two sizes up from your regular shoe size, you should have room for your foot to grow.
Measure Your Feet for Optimal Fit
To find the right skate size, it's important to measure your feet carefully. Then compare the measurements with CCM's size guides. We also have an innovative tool where you take a photo of your foot, and then we guide you to the correct size based on the image – our digital scanner. Regardless of the method you prefer, we will help you find the perfect fit.
How Should Skates Fit on Your Foot?
A skate should fit snugly around the foot but should not cause pain or discomfort. It's important that your toes have a little space, and that the heel is held firmly in place without slipping when the skate is laced. A correct fit prevents chafing and optimizes your power transfer on the ice.
Different Skate Fits: Find Your Width
CCM offers skates in various widths and volumes to suit a diversity of foot shapes. This is crucial for achieving the best possible comfort and performance:
Tapered: The narrowest fit with the lowest volume, ideal for narrower feet.
Regular: A medium fit that suits most foot types.
Wide: The widest fit with the most volume, designed for wider feet.
By choosing the right fit, you ensure that the skate sits optimally and provides you with the support you need.
